Larry Malone

Larry Malone is a Special Projects Coordinator with the W.Va. National Guard and owner of Malone Consulting & Strategies. Prior to this Malone served as the Director of Policy for former West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin. As part of the Governor’s senior team Malone developed and directed policy matters and initiatives for the Governor. In particular, Malone advised on technology, workforce, education, economic development, health care, entrepreneurship, transportation, broadband and energy matters.

Prior to joining the Governor’s Office in 2014 Malone was the owner of Malone Consulting Services, a leading specialty communications firm based in Charleston, West Virginia. Malone provided his clients with nearly 30 years of experience in all facets of communications, public relations, issue management and marketing.

Before forming his own business in 2003, Malone’s work background encompassed a wide range of leadership roles such as a corporate communications manager, a public relations agency executive, a state trade association leader, and a technology entrepreneur. He provided communications counsel and services to several clients and projects, including the West Virginia Regional HIT Extension Center, West Virginians for Better Transportation, TechConnect West Virginia, RCBI Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing, West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, W.Va. Telehealth Alliance and Mon Health System.

Malone is the past Chairman and Project Coordinator of the W.Va. Telehealth Alliance, past Chairman of the W.Va. Broadband Connectivity Working Group and was an elected member of the Affiliate Leadership Council of the W.Va. High Technology Consortium. He also was elected member of the City Council in Charleston, W.Va. – 1995-1999.

Malone has a B.S. in Journalism from West Virginia University.

He is a co-winner of the 2007 “Best In West Virginia” PR Campaign Award by the W.Va. chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
