With a background in computer engineering and quantum physics, Paula has been software engineer for 25 years. Her career started in her native Australia, where she worked in numerous industries, including national electricity supply, industrial electronics, civil engineering, and telecommunications billing. But it was her work with the Semantic Web brought her to the US in 2006, and she been here ever since. Paula specializes in various Semantic Web technologies, especially graph databases, rules systems and description logics. She has served on W3C and OMG working groups, and maintains several open source projects with moderate commercial deployment. Paula’s is also a program lead with Women Who Code in DC where she works to help young women develop their technical skills in software engineering.
